Our Sustainability Measures
🔄 Free Water Refill Stations
Together with our partner HAMBURG WASSER, we provide free water refill stations throughout the event venue, allowing participants and visitors to refill their own bottles and reduce single-use plastic waste.
📩 Compact Race Packs & Less Plastic
Race packs are distributed in envelopes instead of promotional bags. Loose flyers and unnecessary packaging have largely been eliminated and replaced by a digital goodie bag.
🚆 Easy Access by Public Transport and Bicycle
The event's central location, close to Hamburg Central Station and several S-Bahn stations, makes travelling by public transport quick and convenient. Through a partnership with the local transport authority, officials and event staff can use public transport free of charge.
👕 Pre-Order Finisher Shirts
To avoid unnecessary overproduction, finisher shirts and selected merchandise items are available on a pre-order basis. A limited quantity will still be available on site through our partner Zoot.
🥗 Partnerships with Food-Sharing Initiatives
Unused food is not discarded but donated to charitable and social organisations whenever possible.
🥗 Sustainability Standards for Catering Partners
Our public catering partner is committed to selecting a diverse range of vendors with a focus on regional products and offerings that cater to a wide variety of dietary requirements and preferences.
🥤 Recyclable Paper Cups Instead of Plastic
Compostable paper cups are used at all aid stations, helping to reduce plastic waste and improve the event's environmental footprint.
⚡ Renewable Energy in Use
The venue is powered primarily by certified renewable electricity. For additional energy needs, we are working towards replacing traditional diesel generators with battery-powered energy solutions.
🪧 Reusable Signage and Upcycling
Most of our event signage is designed without year-specific branding, allowing it to be reused for future editions. The same approach applies to our swim caps. Selected branding materials are upcycled after the event and transformed into products such as bags.
💻 Digital Registration and Certificates
Registration and finisher certificates are provided entirely digitally, reducing paper consumption and increasing operational efficiency.
👨👩👧 Social Sustainability Through Inclusion and Youth Development
Through the Kids Triathlon, integrated Para triathlon races, and the inclusion of a World Triathlon Para Series event, we actively promote diversity, accessibility, and participation in sport. Our collaboration with Elbe-Werkstätten for the preparation of race materials is another important contribution to social sustainability.
